The brainchild of comedian, author, and actress, Helen Lederer, CWIP was founded in 2018 with the first prize awarded in 2019. However, this would not have been possible without these wonders for getting us on the ladder and we thank them all.

HarperCollins was the first publisher to sponsor the Unpublished Comedy Novel prize category. They provided a publishing contract for the winning authors from 2019 to 2023.

The University of Hertfordshire is a vibrant, inclusive, campus-based institution. The University sponsored runner-up prizes for the Unpublished Comedy Novel prize from 2019 to 2023.
