Competition Terms and Conditions for the Self-Published/Hybrid Published Authors' Prize Category

 

  1. Comedy Women in Print (CWIP)

  2. This competition is promoted by Comedy Women in Print, 15 Underhill Road, London, SE22 0BT  https://www.comedywomeninprint.co.uk/

  3. This promotion is open to all novels self-published or hybrid published in the English language except employees of Comedy Women in Print or their parent, subsidiaries or any affiliated companies and their immediate families, who are not allowed to enter the competition.

  4. Entry is via https://www.comedywomeninprint.co.uk/enter-2025 using the entry form and portal provided.

  5. Closing date for entries is Friday 23 May 2025. No entries received after 23:59 UK time on this date will be accepted.

  6. Entrants must have self-published or hybrid published their comedy novel between 24 May 2023 and 23 May 2025, inclusive.

  7. The prize is a publicity package with Atmosphere Press, including paid ads on social media, book reviews, merchandise for the author’s book, and giving the author a spot in the exclusive Playa Flamingo Writing Residency in Costa Rica (lodging included; travel, insurance, and any other costs will be at the expense of the winner). This package is valued at over $3000 (approx. £2500). There is no alternative first place prize. Two runners-up will be invited for interview for the Atmosphere Press site and Atmosphere Press will host them, and the winner, in a Zoom reading.

  8. The prizes are non-refundable, non-transferable and subject to availability. No guarantee is given as to the quality of the prize.

  9. No cash or prize alternatives are available other than as set out at number 7 above. 

  10. CWIP reserve the right in their reasonable discretion to substitute any prize with a prize of equal or greater value.

  11. The winner of the competition will be selected by a judging panel based on the following criteria: witty narrative and humour in fiction written by female writers as judged by the independent panel made up of appropriately aligned comedic professions and renowned individuals within the industry appointed by CWIP, as well as a representative from Atmosphere Press; and notified at the CWIP winners' event. The judges’ decision as to who has won the competition shall be final. 

  12. Any application containing incorrect, false or unreadable information will be rejected. Any applications made on behalf of or for another person or multiple entries will not be included in the competition.

  13. To obtain the name of the prize winner after the closing date, please write to Comedy Women in Print, 15 Underhill Road, London, SE22 0BT.

  14. The entry instructions are part of the Terms and Conditions for this competition.

  15. By entering the competition, you are agreeing to accept these Terms and Conditions. Any breach of these Terms and Conditions by you will mean that your entry will not be valid, and you will not be allowed to enter this competition.

  16. By entering this competition, you are agreeing that if you win your name may be used for the purpose of announcing the winner in any related publicity with CWIP and Atmosphere Press, however, you may withdraw your consent to this at any time.

  17. Any personal information you give us will be used solely for this competition and will not be passed on to any other parties without your agreement. CWIP privacy and data policy can be found at: https://www.comedywomeninprint.co.uk/privacy-data-policy.

  18. Under no circumstances will CWIP and/or Atmosphere Press be responsible for any loss, damages, costs or expenses arising from or in any way connected with any errors, defects, interruptions, malfunctions or delays in the promotion of the competition or prize. 

  19. CWIP and/or Atmosphere Press will not be responsible unless required by law, for any loss, changes, costs or expenses, which may arise in connection with this competition and CWIP may cancel or alter the competition at any stage.

  20. Any dispute relating to the competition shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales and will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
